Emotional Papercuts: 10 Phrases Used to Control You

In a healthy relationship, language is a bridge used to connect. In a toxic one, language is a weapon used to control. In a toxic relationship you are dealing with someone who is disconnected to their inner being. To feel better, they try to pull you down to their frequency. They use Emotional Papercuts —  individually small, but collectively devastating  phrases designed to  move you from your natural state of empowerment down into guilt, shame, or powerlessness.  1.
